Champéry, Switzerland : The Village

Located high in the Swiss Alps but just over an hour from Geneva Airport, Champéry is the perfect fusion of Christmas card charm and modern resort efficiency. With the staggering, jagged beauty of Les Dents du Midi mountains as a backdrop the village’s chalets, hotels, bars, and restaurants offer both a delightful sanctuary and a warm welcome to any visitor. Champéry "High Street"

Champéry is not a glitzy, jet-set resort and we don’t pretend that it is, because we think that we’ve got something better. Much better. There are no cliques here, no poseur scenes and no pretensions. What we do have is some of the best skiing on the planet, a beautiful village, and friendly faces to enjoy it with. So, bring your friends or family for a week or more.  We are certain that after one visit you will come again.

If you haven't been back to Champéry for a few years - then you will be pleasantly surprised at all of the recent changes.  Two years ago, a couple of long-time ski instructors John Mitchell and Kina Ojdahl opened Mitchell's Pub and Restaurant.  A great place to rendezvous for an après-ski pint of Guinness lounging on one of their couches in front of the fire, or sit down to a romantic meal from an interesting and eclectic menu.

On the high street there have been many changes to the historical Café du Centre .  The new Scottish owner has completely renovated and rejuvenated the building and they've imported chefs from Hong Kong to maintain their awesome Asian menu.  Most people are excited about the new brewery that Martin has installed on the premises and don't forget to sample a batch of his Champéry Pale Ale while in town.

Late at night - there is only one place to see and be seen -  and that is the famous La Crevasse nightclub.  Fall into this late night joint and after a few hours of sampling cocktails and dancing to the infectious rhythms from the crevasses in-house DJ you'll be refusing any need for rescue (though you may need to be).

Along with all the improvements in the village something's shouldn't change - so rest assured that Jaques and Millie at Berra Sports are always on hand to help you with all of your ski equipment and fashion needs.

For the non-skier there still remains a wealth of activities to choose from in Champéry.  From a gentle skate or swim at the Centre Sportif, to shopping for cool designer T's at BASECAMP.  On a bad weather day we always recommend a short excursion to Montreux or Lausanne by train
